Christmas is around the corner and every street, every mall is filled with Christmas lights and music. The holiday spirit follows you everywhere and every time these days and let’s be honest…sometimes it can be quite annoying. BUT!! Instead of being annoyed, let’s be grateful for the undeniable benefits of this couple of weeks: FOOOOD! Around this time of the year we get a little bit more indulgent with ourselves and our diet, and let ourselves to taste the wonderful meals what the Christmas Fairs offer us. Check out our must try list and be sure your holiday spirit will get on the top again! 😉

Chimney-cake (Kürtös kalács)

We have already praised this heavenly treat in one of our previous posts and if you missed out on trying it back then, this is your time. The chimney-cake is a typical winter snack, which can warm your heart and stomach in the same time. The Kürtös kalács is a traditional spit cake specific to Hungarian-speaking regions (but now it is kind of world famous, so you can find them in every big city). It is made from sweet, yeast dough, of which a strip is spun and the wrapped around a baking spit while being baked. In the end it is rolled in vanilla or cinnamon sugar, walnuts, coconut or cacao powder. I guess there is no more words needed here.. 😉

Stuffed Cabbage (Töltött káposzta)

This food is quite popular among Europeans, but the exact recipe really depends on the region. The Hungarian stuffed cabbage is basically consisting of cooked cabbage leaves wrapped around a variety of amazing fillings. Traditionally made with beef, ground pork, smoked pork butt and  sauerkraut is served with sour cream. If you love rich, juicy and delicious tastes, this is your match 😉
